Appointment: Junie B Facey as Director of Community Engagement and Development, East Metro Youth Services
I am pleased to announce that Junie B Facey will be joining East Metro Youth Services (EMYS) as Director, Community Engagement and Development effective July 18, 2018. Junie is currently the Program and Professional Development Coordinator for Cestar College of Business, Health & Technology and part of Ryerson University’s faculty in The Chang School, Non-Profit and Voluntary Sector Management program. Junie fills Janice Sellon’s role.
Born and raised in Scarborough, Junie returned a few years ago with a desire to contribute to improving services and service access informed by the client voice. Strategically leading service excellence in mental health, developmental services, health promotion, children and youth, employment services, and community justice programs, she has over 15 years of management experience. She also has eight years of faculty and administration experience in higher education institutions, with a focus on leadership, change management, and professional development.
As the Program and Professional Development Coordinator at Cestar College of Business, Health and Technology, Junie served and worked with international students representing over 40 countries, engaging in program development, course content development, and establishing quality and performance standards for 140 faculty working across 23 different programs. Prior to this, she was the Director of Operations at Springboard, leading a management team with a diversely funded $8 million portfolio budget. Under Junie’s leadership, she designed and implemented a leadership development training program with competency building through peer support. She successfully led the intensive preparation at the program, and Board level for the Ministry of Community and Social Service’s Services & Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, quality assurance audit, and achieved meeting standards and training requirements
Junie was also the Director of Clinical Services at Cota where she championed organizational improvement through collaborative project-based change management; she developed policies, processes and frameworks for quality improvement, promoting clinical service excellence and refined privacy, confidentiality and consent practices in initiating interRai-CHA and the Integrated Assessment Record (IAR) as an early adopter agency. She was also responsible for enhancing the organization’s profile by relationship managing current and building new partnerships and engaging with clients and their families to ensure client needs were being met with client-directed service plans and innovative and responsive solutions.
Junie just completed a term as Board Director for Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, and member on the Nominating and Governance, and Executive Committees – and is hoping to stay connected on a committee as a community member. She has also served as Board Director for East York East Toronto Resources, and Chaired the Strategic Planning Committee, and was Board Vice-Chair and Board Development Committee Chair for Madison Community Services. Junie also mentors emerging leaders. She holds a multitude of designations and degrees including a Change Management Practitioner designation, Bachelor of Social Work with a Minor in Public Administration, and a Masters Degree in Health Studies: Leadership. She is also a Doctor of Education candidate.
Under Junie’s portfolio, she will oversee EMYS’ youth engagement and developmental services, the Youth Outreach Worker program (East Quadrant) and manage current partnerships and build new ones to further build system pathways and connections. Her personal philosophy “The Organizational Team” guides her efforts to ensure seamlessness between programs, locations, teams, and partnerships. She is committed to collaborating, strategizing and achieving the best possible outcomes.
