An event every week that begins at 5:30 pm on Monday, repeating until June 10, 2019
The bereavement youth group is a partnership between Bereaved Families of Ontario and East Metro Youth Services. We welcome youth between the ages of 13-19 who have experienced loss of someone important to them due to natural causes, suicide and homicide. The group is facilitated by an EMYS staff and a BFO volunteer, both who have experienced the loss of a loved one(s) themselves.
The purpose of the bereavement group is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space for youth to share their grief stories, to normalize the grief experience, and to feel less alone in this state of confusion and heartache. Youth will also learn how to manage their “new normal” after the death of a loved one(s) and learn coping strategies to support them in their healing process. Our group carves out space for processing and making meaning of loss. Youth participate when they choose to, silence is okay.
