East Metro Youth Services (EMYS) is an adolescent mental health and addictions centre, accredited by the Canadian Centre of Accreditation, serving young people and their families since 1974. In 2015, EMYS was named Lead Agency for Toronto by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, as part of the provinces mental health strategy. Our mission as Lead Agency, in partnership with other service providers, is to improve child, youth and family access to mental health services in Toronto.

To continue making a difference in the lives of children, youth and families facing mental health issues, EMYS needs talented, passionate, committed staff willing to do whatever it takes to help us achieve our vision. EMYS welcomes student placements and values the opportunity to support students in their career development.

You can apply for a student placement in two ways:

  2. If there are no vacancies and you are still interested, please reach out to your College/University’s Placement Coordinator or Program Supervisor. Placement opportunities at EMYS vary from year to year and depend on program needs and staff available to supervise students. Please note, we have contracts with certain schools, so to find out if you are eligible, please have your Program Coordinator contact us at
